Regjun Tramuntana officially launched the Erasmus+ Sports project Deep Blue Green – Exercise for Wellbeing at Għadira Bay, together with partners Anemos (Greece), Trekkify (Italy), and Médio Tejo (Portugal).

The initiative builds on the earlier Blue Green Exercise for Wellbeing project, with the aim of encouraging elderly people, persons with disabilities, and inactive groups to engage in physical activity in natural environments.

Executive Secretary Bjorn Bonello opened the press conference by welcoming participants and thanking project partners.

President Clifford Galea emphasised “the importance of cross-border cooperation for community wellbeing,” while Parliamentary Secretary Dr Malcolm Paul Agius Galea stressed government backing, noting the project’s alignment with “public health and active ageing priorities.”

The programme integrates sport, culture, health awareness, and environmental. Planned activities include woodcraft workshops for the visually impaired, sessions with Special Olympics Malta youth, line dancing, art in nature, and environmental clean-ups.

The project reflects the EU’s priorities of active citizenship, inclusion, and sustainability. It also showcases Malta’s role in promoting wellbeing and community cohesion through European collaboration in sport.
