Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi has announced that he will not be contesting the upcoming general election, explaining that after 30 years of political service, he has chosen to dedicate more time to his family and return to his legal profession. In his statement, he explained: “I have taken the decision to dedicate more time to my family and to return to my legal profession, and therefore I have informed Prime Minister Robert Abela that I will not be contesting the next general election.”
He emphasised that his commitment to the Labour Party remains unchanged, stating: “As I have done for the past 30 years, I will continue working within the Labour Party to see it keep winning and delivering progress for the Maltese and Gozitans.” Zrinzo Azzopardi also noted that he will continue fulfilling his ministerial duties with full dedication for the remainder of the legislature.
In his message, he expressed heartfelt thanks to all those who supported him throughout his political career. He added special appreciation for the constituents of the Fifth District, saying: “I sincerely thank all those who supported me and showed their trust in me, particularly the people of the Fifth District who elected me to Parliament twice.”
