The Parliamentary Secretariat for Social Dialogue held the 2025 National Worker of the Year Awards, an event celebrating the dedication and resilience of Maltese and Gozitan workers across multiple economic sectors. Parliamentary Secretary Andy Ellul said the ceremony was “more than a recognition event,” describing it as a moment to reflect on the values that define the world of work, including “hard work, humanity and passion.”

Dr Ellul stressed that every worker contributes meaningfully, regardless of the size of their workplace, noting: “We are a small country but with great talent. Every national achievement is built on the commitment of our workers.” This year’s edition included ten categories such as Manager of the Year, Head of the Year, Team of the Year, Most Inclusive Organisation, Young Rising Star, Best Entrepreneur, Best Work-Life Balance Organisation, Company with Most Social Responsibility, Worker of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

A new special recognition award was introduced and awarded to Marsaskala FC Youth Nursery for launching a section enabling children with Down syndrome to participate in sport. The Secretariat reported a record of over 150 nominations.

The ceremony also featured remarks by Acting President Helena Dalli, who highlighted Malta’s advancements in workers’ rights and new forms of leave introduced in recent years.
