The Malta Police Union has issued an urgent appeal for blood donations following the shooting incident in San Ġwann that left police officers injured while carrying out their duties.
In a statement, the Union called on all eligible members of the public to donate blood in support of “our colleagues who were seriously injured in the line of duty during today’s operation in San Ġwann.”
The Union said there is an especially urgent need for O negative (O−) blood donors, while stressing that donations from people of all blood groups are also greatly appreciated and could help save lives.
Blood donations can be made at the National Blood Transfusion Centre in St Luke’s Square, G’Mangia.
The Malta Police Union thanked the public for the solidarity already shown, stating: “We thank the public for their solidarity and support during this difficult time.”
The statement concludes with the Police Force’s motto, “Domine Dirige Nos” (“Guide Us, O Lord”).
Those who are eligible and able to donate are encouraged to do so as soon as possible to help ensure an adequate blood supply for those in urgent need.
