The Office of the Prime Minister has announced that “A Night at the Palace” will return to Girgenti Palace on Wednesday, 9 September, with this year’s edition carrying the theme “Melodija Maltija.” The annual concert will once again open the historic palace to the public while celebrating Maltese music and supporting a charitable cause.

The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Kevin Abela, will perform a programme featuring some of Malta’s best-loved local songs that have become part of the country’s cultural identity over the years. This edition will also honour the memory of Maestro Aurelio Belli in recognition of his lasting contribution to Maltese music, the nation’s cultural heritage, and his involvement in previous editions of the event.

Prime Minister’s wife Dr Lydia Abela described the concert as an annual event that brings together music, culture and an important social purpose. She explained that all proceeds from ticket sales, together with donations collected during the evening, will be given to Hospice Malta. “Through this evening we will not only celebrate Maltese song and our country’s musical talent, but also provide concrete support to Hospice Malta, the patients it assists and their families,” she said.

Vanessa Mangion, Chief Executive of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, said the orchestra is proud to once again support the initiative, while Maestro Kevin Abela explained that audiences will enjoy a musical journey through Maltese classics presented with new orchestral arrangements. Tickets cost €10, with the full amount being donated to Hospice Malta, and each person may purchase up to five tickets.
