Choirs from across Malta gathered at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Grace in Żabbar for the two-day choral festival Magnificat, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Coronation of the Miraculous Titular Painting of Our Lady of Grace. The event marked a significant milestone in the parish’s history and drew a strong attendance over both evenings.

The opening night on Saturday 28th February featured the Parish Choir Regina Coeli of Ħad Dingli, the Maria Assumpta Choir of Mosta, St Julian’s Choral Group, and the Santa Cecilia Choir of Mosta. The festival continued on Sunday 1st March with performances by the Children’s Choir of Żabbar, the Tota Pulchra Choir of Cospicua, the Parish Choir of St Anne of Marsaskala, the Sine Macula Choir of Ħal Safi, and the Notre Dame Parish Choir of Żabbar.

Sunday evening was attended by Joe Alessandro, Bishop Emeritus of Garissa, Kenya. Addressing the congregation through his presence, the celebration unfolded in what organisers described as “two evenings of sacred music performed by a wide range of choirs within the devotional setting of the Sanctuary.”

The programme offered moments of reflection and celebration, highlighting Żabbar’s spiritual heritage while commemorating the historic anniversary.
