Tomorrow, Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna will institute seminarian André Psaila from the Parish of Christ the King, Paola, in the Ministry of Acolyte. The ceremony will take place during the celebration of the Feast of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary at 7:00pm in the Chapel of the Archbishop’s Seminary in Rabat.
The conferral of the ministry of acolyte marks another important step in this young man’s journey towards the priesthood. This ministry forms part of the key stages that seminarians undertake as they prepare for priestly life.
As an acolyte, André will be given the role of assisting priests and deacons in their ministry during the celebration of the Eucharist. He will also administer Holy Communion to fellow Christians, including the sick, while being encouraged to grow in his personal love for the Eucharist.
The ministry also calls him to live in a way that reflects his commitment to serving the Church, so that he may be worthy to serve at the table of the Lord and of the Church.
