During his Budget 2026 reply in Parliament, Opposition MP Alex Borg sharply questioned the Government’s handling of the Steward Healthcare case. “Can the Government tell us who won — what victory is this?” he asked.
Borg criticised the outcome of the international tribunal process, saying, “We took out €900 million as a nation, out of which €400 million were used on new hospitals. Go to Gozo, Karen Grech or St Luke’s and see with your own eyes where all these millions went.”
He noted that while the Government has said the contract fell through, “this happened only through the work of Adrian Delia.” Borg added, “We not only lost, but now we also have to pay €5 million more.”
Concluding his remarks, the PN MP pressed further: “Therefore, Mr Speaker, I ask — what did the Government do in the tribunal?”
