During the Assembly of the European Capuchin Conference (CEMCap), currently taking place in Scutari, Albania, the Provincial Minister of the Maltese Capuchins, Fr Ivan Scicluna, was elected President of the Conference. His appointment places him at the head of the body that brings together Capuchin provinces from across Europe and promotes collaboration among them.
The election comes just days after another significant achievement for the Maltese Church. The Provincial Prior of the Augustinians in Malta, Fr Leslie Gatt OSA, was elected Vice President of the Organisation of European Augustinians (OAE) during its annual meeting held in Ghent, Belgium.
The gathering brought together Major Superiors from Augustinian communities throughout Europe to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the Order, with particular focus on formation, pastoral work and increased cooperation between provinces.
The appointments of both Fr Ivan Scicluna and Fr Leslie Gatt have been welcomed as recognition of the dedication and service offered by Maltese religious communities, both locally and abroad.
