Partit Nazzjonalista leader Alex Borg said that “the future of Gozo should be written by the Gozitans themselves” while addressing a conference in Gozo organised by MEP Peter Agius focusing on European funds allocated for the island.
During his speech, Borg described the PN’s vision as “not just an investment plan, but a new vision for Gozo,” insisting that the island “deserves more.” He stated that a Nationalist government would secure the best possible European funding to strengthen infrastructure, support Gozitan entrepreneurs, and create more opportunities for young people to remain and build their future in Gozo. He added that the party’s commitment to a specific European funding programme for Gozo would ensure “guaranteed allocation for medium and long-term development.”
Among the proposals announced were a new 400-bed hospital in Gozo, expansion of Mġarr Harbour, new EU-funded ferries equipped with “calm rooms,” the return of scheduled cargo services to the Grand Harbour and Freeport, a breakwater project in Marsalforn, and investment in 150 kilometres of residential and arterial roads.
Other speakers also highlighted transport improvements, European funding opportunities, and better facilities for Gozitan students and commuters.
