The Ministry for Health, together with the Cancer Care Pathways Directorate within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, commemorated National Cancer Survivors Day with a national conference at the Aula Magna, Valletta Campus of the University of Malta.
The event, titled “Journey of Hope – Surviving & Beyond,” focused on resilience, life after cancer, and the continued needs and rights of patients following primary treatment.

The conference also marked the first official engagement of Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg as Minister for Health. He said the occasion offers encouragement not only to people facing cancer, but also to those supporting them. Dr Borg also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure, services and research for Malta and Gozo.
Cancer survivor Andrew Attard thanked those who gave survivors the opportunity “to have a voice” and share their experiences to help others currently facing cancer.
Sessions during the day covered life after treatment, the Right to be Forgotten, Living Well Beyond Cancer, national policy, Malta’s strategic vision and innovative research.
