His Most Eminent Highness, the Prince and Grand Master, Fra’ John Dunlap, visited Malta between 5 and 7 December “on the invitation of the Maltese Association to participate at the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Maltese Association.” He was accompanied by the Grand Chancellor, H.E. Riccado Paterno’ di Montecupo, and the Receiver of the Common Treasure, H.E. Fra’ Francis Vassallo.
Visit to Xewkija and Inauguration of Gozo Volunteer Premises

Saturday’s events opened with a visit to the Basilica of St John the Baptist in Xewkija, described as the “spiritual seat of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Gozo.” The Grand Master was welcomed by Archpriest Mgr Daniel Xerri, who offered a guided tour. He then proceeded to inaugurate the renovated premises of the Order of Malta Volunteers in Gozo, which were blessed by Bishop Anton Theuma. A reception followed, attended by senior dignitaries, members, and volunteers.

Mass at Ta’ Pinu and the Gala Dinner in Valletta

Holy Mass was celebrated at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu by Principal Chaplain Mgr Brendan Gatt.
On 6 December, a Gala Dinner marking the Association’s 60th anniversary was held at the Grand Masters’ Palace “by gracious permission of H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta.” In his address, Dr Michael Grech praised “six decades of steadfast dedication,” while President Spiteri Debono highlighted the “indissoluble bond” between Malta and the Order. The Grand Master affirmed Malta’s “deep bond of history and spirit” with the Order and noted the inauguration of the new Gozo premises earlier that day.
