An investment of more than €760,000 is being made to improve 11 Housing apartment blocks in Ta’ Xbiex, with 91 families expected to benefit from the works.
Housing and Lands Minister Owen Bonnici announced that €762,021 is being invested in the project. Works began last February and are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
During a site visit, Bonnici said the investment reflects the government’s commitment to improving residents’ quality of life and keeping residential buildings in good condition. He added that the works will improve the area’s appearance while contributing to “a safer and more sustainable environment” for families.
The project includes extensive work on façades, roofs and common areas. Façade works include stone cleaning, pointing, plastering, balcony concrete repairs, painting and the installation of vent covers.
Roof works include general cleaning, liquid membrane application, painting, organisation of water tanks and pipes, and asbestos removal where necessary.
Common areas will also undergo plastering and painting, lighting repairs or improvements, new intercom installations where required, replacement of wooden meter cupboards with aluminium ones, and works on tiles, marble and communal apertures.
