Former Opposition Leader and Nationalist MP Adrian Delia welcomed the decision of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) tribunal, which, according to him, “confirmed that the Steward Health Care contract had to end.”
In a statement on social media, Dr Delia said he was pleased with the outcome, noting that “Malta successfully defended the achievement made when the Maltese Court had annulled all the contracts and we regained the three hospitals.”
He added, however, that despite Steward “not having built or renovated any of the three hospitals,” the Government “failed to recover any of the money paid, after previously boasting that it would do so.”
Dr Delia’s comments came following the Government’s announcement that the ICC tribunal rejected Steward Healthcare’s €148 million claim and upheld Malta’s core defence position in the arbitration proceedings.
