The leader of the Partit Nazzjonalista, Alex Borg, announced a series of healthcare proposals during the party’s first mass rally of the electoral campaign held in front of Dar Ċentrali under the theme “Nifs Ġdid”.

Among the key proposals, Borg stated that “a new Nationalist government will provide cancer medicines free of charge to everyone and build new hospitals across Malta and Gozo.” He outlined plans for a new hospital in the north of Malta, the expansion of the Paola Hub into a hospital, and improvements to Mater Dei Hospital to offer “better and higher quality services.” A new hospital in Gozo also forms part of this network, aimed at ensuring efficiency and reducing delays.

Borg added that a Nationalist government would invest in better conditions and wages for healthcare workers, while also reducing waiting times for operations. He said the plan includes closing Mount Carmel Hospital and shifting mental health services into community-based care.

He also announced the creation of a centre of excellence focused on prevention and wellbeing, “not only to cure diseases but to prevent them,” alongside expanded rehabilitation services.

Borg concluded that the PN is “determined to bring the change the country needs,” urging voters to support “a new direction” for Malta and Gozo.
