Severe weather conditions are expected to affect both the Maltese Islands and Sicily over the coming hours, prompting authorities to issue strong warnings and precautionary measures.
In Malta, the Civil Protection has issued a public notice warning that strong winds are forecast across the islands over the next 12 hours. The public is being advised to avoid working at heights, stay away from coastlines and breakwaters due to rough seas, secure loose outdoor objects, and drive with caution, particularly in exposed areas. Authorities urged residents to remain vigilant and follow further official updates.
Sicily to Be Hit Harder

Meanwhile, Sicily has been placed under varying weather alert levels by the regional Civil Protection Department. A red alert has been declared along the Ionian coast between Messina and Catania, with orange alerts in central-eastern areas and yellow alerts in central-western regions. Forecasts indicate storm-force winds from eastern quadrants, with gusts reaching up to 100 km/h, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, frequent lightning, and possible hail. Sea waves along the Ionian coast are expected to reach 5–6 metres.
