The Partit Nazzjonalista has reacted to the publication of the arbitration decision between the Government of Malta and Steward Health Care, stating that it confirms “the greatest victim of the Steward deal are the Maltese people.”
In a statement, the PN said the decision reinforces what “two Maltese Court rulings and three reports by the National Audit Office” had already established — “that there was collusion and a total failure against the Maltese people.” The party is now analysing the full details of the decision.
The PN noted that “the Government’s claim that it was the one to initiate the arbitration is false,” pointing out that the Tribunal confirmed “it was Steward who took the Maltese Government to arbitration, not the other way round.”
Quoting directly from the decision, the Tribunal stated: “Sadly, the concession for these hospitals turned out to be a failure… The primary victims of this failure are the citizens of Malta who were anxious of receiving… improved health-care services.”
The PN said this was “the statement of the international arbitrators themselves,” confirming that “millions of euro belonging to citizens were wasted in vain” and that “these contracts were crafted against the public interest and should never have been signed.”
