Hundreds of people attended Ġimgħa Familja 2026, organised by the Family Commission of the Parish of the Imġarr, which took place over three consecutive days between Tuesday 27 and Thursday 29 January at the parish Oratory. The sessions, held each evening at 7.30pm, were well attended in person and were also followed online by many families and couples.

Participants included engaged couples, couples in relationships, and married couples of different ages, ranging from young adults to elderly spouses.

Those present actively followed the sessions, asked questions, and participated in discussions throughout the three-day programme, highlighting strong interest in the themes addressed and their relevance to everyday family life.

The initiative focused on forgiveness within the family, addressing challenges faced at different stages of relationships and marriage.

The programme provided an opportunity for reflection, dialogue, and practical guidance for couples and families navigating modern pressures while maintaining strong personal bonds.

Speakers during Ġimgħa Familja 2026 included the Bishop of Gozo, a psychotherapist, and a family mediator, who each contributed perspectives on emotional well-being, communication, and reconciliation within family relationships.

Mġarr Parish Priest Canon Sean Abela thanked all those who participated and encouraged couples and families to keep Christ at the centre of their relationships. He referred to the Christian understanding of love, reminding those present that love is patient and kind, and that it perseveres even through difficulty.
