Malta Dairy Products Ltd has announced that, with effect from 1 January 2026, a number of its fresh milk products will see moderate adjustments to their recommended retail prices. The company stated that these changes are necessary “to ensure the long-term sustainability and reliability of Malta’s fresh milk supply”.
Malta Dairy Products explained that the fresh dairy sector continues to face significant cost pressures, despite Government support in stabilising national energy prices and helping to mitigate higher feed costs. Among the main factors cited were “higher animal-feed costs”, increased prices for ingredients, packaging and transport, as well as continued investment in quality, laboratory capabilities, processing systems, and cold-chain distribution.
The company noted that throughout 2025 it absorbed a substantial portion of rising operational costs in order to limit the impact on households. However, it said the upcoming adjustments are required to maintain a stable and sustainable sector going forward.
