A statement issued by the Labour Party said that the Nationalist Party “never misses an opportunity to be partisan even in sensitive cases,” after an incident involving two children was drawn into political debate by the Opposition.
The Labour Party argued that the Nationalist Party had become “so lost in partisanship” that even a case between minors was “pulled into the political arena.” The statement described this as further confirmation that the PN “fails to recognise the sensitivity” required in such situations, adding that this behaviour reflects what it called a “dangerous belief that categorises people as ‘tat-tkexkix’.”
It noted that the Government had already ensured the necessary support in the case concerned, while emphasising that thousands of educators across Malta “provide a safe environment” for children every day.
The Labour Party stated that an isolated incident should not undermine the public’s trust in the authorities or in workers within the education sector, stressing that confidence in these institutions must remain strong.
The statement concluded by noting that an English version was attached to the communication.
