The Partit Nazzjonalista has issued a statement rejecting what it described as “another piece of fake news from Labour” regarding a report by the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life on comments made by Opposition Leader Alex Borg about generic medicines.
According to the PN, the Commissioner “found absolutely nothing” and concluded that “there was not even a basis for an investigation” into the complaint. The party said that, contrary to claims circulated by Labour media, there are “no grounds whatsoever for an investigation” into Borg’s remarks.
The statement explains that, in line with established procedure, since no investigation was opened, the Commissioner’s report “was not published at all.” Despite this, the PN claims that Labour media reported selectively from the document, while failing to state that “the Commissioner found no wrongdoing whatsoever by the Leader of the Opposition.” The party stressed: “No breach. No investigation. No wrongdoing.”
The PN also rejected claims that the Commissioner stated that Borg lied, saying this is “clear and unequivocal” in the Commissioner’s final considerations. It added that these conclusions contradict the allegations made by Labour media.
The statement reiterated the PN’s commitment to healthcare reform, access to medicines, and lower medicine prices. It contrasted this with what it described as failures under a Labour government, including the Vitals and Steward hospitals concession and the continued absence of three promised new hospitals.
