St Anne Parish Church in Marsaskala will host a special celebration dedicated to unborn children, expectant mothers and young families on Friday, 24 July, as part of the spiritual preparations for the parish’s titular feast, which will be celebrated on Sunday.

The celebration will begin at 6:30pm with Holy Mass led by Canon Fr Gylan Camilleri, Vice-Archpriest of the Parish of Our Lady of Graces in Żabbar. During the liturgy, a special blessing will be given to babies in the womb and their families through the intercession of St Anne. The celebration will also include the presentation of babies born since last year’s feast, entrusting them to the saint’s protection. The Arcum Orchestra will accompany the liturgy.

In the Christian tradition, St Anne, the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus, is widely invoked as the patron saint of unborn children, expectant mothers, couples praying for the gift of children, and the elderly. Her intercession is also sought by many families as a sign of hope, protection and perseverance.

The celebration reflects the Church’s witness to the dignity of every human person and highlights St Anne as a powerful protector of human life at every stage – from the child in the womb to natural death.

Families, expectant parents and all those with a devotion to St Anne are invited to take part in this special celebration ahead of the parish feast.
