During a recent visit to Maritime MT, an educational institution specialising in the maritime sector, Alex Borg highlighted the country’s potential to further strengthen this important industry. He stated clearly that “we have great potential to continue elevating our country in the maritime sector,” underlining the opportunities that lie ahead for Malta.
Borg explained that in the coming days he will be launching “a large and ambitious project” aimed specifically at this field. He stressed that for the maritime sector to receive the importance it deserves, it should be supported by “an authority focused solely on it.” This, he noted, would allow for better coordination and long-term planning.
He also emphasised the need for skilled workers, stating that continued success depends on “specialised and trained employees.” As part of this vision, he encouraged efforts to guide students from a young age towards maritime careers, ensuring a steady pipeline of talent for the future.
Also present during the visit, which formed part of activities marking Workers’ Day, were Shadow Ministers Ivan Castillo and Justin Schembri.
