Residents affected by the ongoing power cuts can now make use of the Mellieħa Local Council Hall to charge their mobile phones and laptops, or simply use the space to continue working while electricity is unavailable at home.
Mayor Gabriel Micallef announced the initiative as parts of Malta continue to experience repeated electricity disruptions affecting homes, businesses and public services. The Council Hall will serve as a temporary workspace and charging point for residents in need during the outages.
The initiative follows similar efforts by businesses and organisations across Malta that have opened their premises to support communities affected by the blackouts. Over recent days, several establishments have offered access to electricity, air-conditioned spaces and charging facilities to help residents cope with prolonged power cuts.
