A new national initiative will see every household across Malta and Gozo receive an emergency guide and a fire blanket, with the aim of improving safety and preparedness at home. The announcement was made by Byron Camilleri, highlighting a continued focus on prevention and protection.
The guide will feature clear and practical information on how to prevent fires, administer basic first aid, and respond effectively in different emergency scenarios, including natural hazards. Meanwhile, the fire blanket is intended as a simple yet vital tool that can help control small fires before they escalate.
Distribution will be carried out through a nationwide rollout. Civil Protection vehicles will be present in various localities, allowing residents to collect their fire blankets, while fire stations will open at specific times to accommodate the public.
According to the Minister, this measure forms part of a broader effort to strengthen the country’s emergency services, including the 112 system, Civil Protection, the Police, and the Armed Forces.
The initiative is being implemented through cooperation between multiple entities, including Civil Protection, the Police Force, and the health sector, with the goal of enhancing national readiness and response capabilities.
