The 10th edition of the International Greening the Islands Conference was held in Gozo, with Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri highlighting the island’s commitment to sustainability.

The conference, themed “Expanding Holistic Island-led Solutions to Drive Global Sustainability and Climate Action,” took place between 29 and 30 October 2025, organised by the Greening the Islands Foundation. It promoted sustainability and self-sufficiency across islands worldwide by showcasing innovative and “nexus-smart projects.”

Minister Camilleri stated that, “despite the island’s small size and the challenge of double insularity, Gozo remains determined to become a more sustainable and resilient island.” He explained that through the Regional Development Strategy for Gozo, the island is promoting responsible land use, biodiversity protection, sustainable development, and climate change mitigation while supporting economic growth and preserving cultural heritage.

He noted that current initiatives, including afforestation, rainwater collection, energy efficiency projects, and the regeneration of parks and green spaces, are contributing to Gozo’s sustainable vision for the future.
