The Office of the Prime Minister announced that next year the authorities will introduce new regulatory standards, which will be opened for public consultation, aimed at further improving the quality of services offered to older persons. The announcement was made during a visit by Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary for Active Ageing Malcolm Paul Agius Galea, to a private residential care home.

During the visit to Porziuncola Home, the Prime Minister met residents and extended festive greetings, while elderly residents were also given gifts to assist with their daily needs. Dr Abela noted the “important services offered to the elderly by workers and professionals” and reiterated the Government’s commitment to ensuring that every elderly person living in both public and private residential homes receives “the highest possible level of care”.

The Prime Minister explained that the purpose of the new regulatory standards is to “continue strengthening the quality of service offered to our elderly”. He also highlighted that the approved Budget for the coming year includes an €83 million allocation for residential care in private homes, reflecting the importance the Government places on collaboration with private operators.

Porziuncola Home forms part of a network of modern residential facilities operated by Golden Care, offering professional, secure, and dignity-focused care through a multidisciplinary team operating 24 hours a day.
