During Mass marking the Solemnity of All Souls and the Jubilee for those who have lost loved ones, celebrated at the Parish Church of the Annunciation in Balzan, Archbishop Charles Jude Scicluna delivered a message of consolation and faith. He reminded the congregation that “there is a clear will of the Father – that each and every one of us reaches our destination… the place prepared for us.”

Archbishop Scicluna reflected that remembering the dead should also inspire love in life: “We meet God in our neighbour,” He also explained that purgatory “is not a place, but a process of purification – an expression of God’s mercy.”

He called on the faithful to pray “for our deceased brothers and sisters, including those who have no one to remember them, because we are one family.” The Archbishop also urged prayer “for the grace that when we think of our own death, we may not be afraid.”

Recalling the Gospel verse “Jesus wept,” Scicluna said: “Our tears are holy because they are the price of love.” He concluded: “I believe in the resurrection of the dead, and we thank the Lord who, over our death, emerged victorious.”
