Mużika Mużika, one of Malta’s leading festivals dedicated to Maltese music, begins this evening with the opening night of its sixth edition. The festival, running from March 19 to 21, 2026, has reached its final stage of preparations, with hundreds of professionals and the Festivals Malta team coordinating production, staging, lighting, sound, and live broadcasting.
Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government Owen Bonnici visited the final preparations, describing the festival as “a living testament that Maltese culture is not the past,” but “the living present of our nation and the future of the next generations.” He added that Mużika Mużika highlights the Maltese language “in its finest manifestation” on a national stage.
Festivals Malta Chairman Aaron Zahra confirmed that everything is set for the opening night, while CEO Frans Agius noted that this year’s edition will be broadcast on five local television stations to reach wider audiences.
Tonight’s show will feature all 16 competing songs for the first time. The festival continues with the Classics Night on Friday and concludes on Saturday with the Grand Final, including a special performance by Tribali.
