Alex Borg “offered a wishlist, not proposals” – Owen Bonnici

The Labour Party said the Government, under Prime Minister Robert Abela, is offering “a vision for our country,” while Opposition Leader Alex Borg has “already lost control.” In a press conference, Ministers Michael Falzon and Owen Bonnici contrasted the Government’s “inclusive and strategic approach” with what they called the Nationalist Party’s “negative attitude.”

Minister Falzon said the upcoming Budget continues to “introduce measures ensuring that it helps everyone to improve the quality of life.” He highlighted initiatives including “increases in pensions, tax cuts to families, adoption and foster parent grants, and IVF support for couples.” Falzon added that the Labour Government is also addressing “individual needs and small groups of people,” such as those completing drug rehabilitation programmes.

Minister Bonnici noted that during the Prime Minister’s Budget speech in Parliament, “Nationalist MPs interrupted him several times,” with one MP even “obstructing the broadcast by standing in front of the national station’s camera.” He said the Prime Minister was outlining key projects under “Malta Vision 2050” when the disruptions occurred.

Bonnici concluded that Alex Borg “offered a wishlist, not proposals,” claiming his ideas were “either copied and pasted from ChatGPT or already implemented by Government.”
