The Labour Party has called for “mature and responsible politics,” criticising what it described as “theatrics” by the Opposition during recent parliamentary proceedings. In a press conference, Minister Miriam Dalli and young opinionist Carlos Zarb said Parliament should remain “a space for constructive dialogue and a forum to address national challenges.”
Minister Dalli stated that “the Opposition’s disrespect towards Parliament is evident,” adding that citizens expect their representatives “to come up with projects, plans, and initiatives that build a strong economy and secure a better future for our children.” She warned that political immaturity could discourage young people from participating in national life, noting that “the future is not built through shouting and noise, but by rolling up our sleeves and gearing up to work harder.”
Carlos Zarb criticised the Opposition Leader for failing to maintain order among his MPs during Tuesday’s parliamentary sitting, claiming it “discourages young people like me from serving our country.” He added, “This isn’t about political differences… disagreement should never descend into theatrics.” Zarb commended the Labour Party for encouraging youth participation and reaffirmed his belief in “mature, inclusive politics” that promote constructive dialogue.
