White Rocks to Become a National Green Park – Abela
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Prime Minister Robert Abela described Budget 2026 as “the budget that strengthens once again the roots of our society – parents.” He said the Labour Government “is a guarantee of strong social investment” aimed at ensuring that “our country continues moving forward.” The measures, he explained, support families, workers, young people, and businesses, with an emphasis on tax cuts and higher benefits.

Abela announced an increase in both the In-Work Benefit and Children’s Allowance, saying that the government’s policies will further assist families. He added that “the largest tax cut in history,” combined with last year’s reduction, will “leave around €900 million in people’s pockets.” He gave examples of families “saving more than a quarter of a million euros in tax.”

On social investment, Abela confirmed the eleventh consecutive pension increase and announced plans for “a new 300-bed hospital for the elderly.” He also referred to reforms in mental health, a new obesity clinic at Mater Dei Hospital, and new rules to “regulate social media access for children under 13.”

Regarding the environment, Abela said the White Rocks development call will be cancelled, turning the area into “a national green park,” while Manoel Island will “be given back to the people.” He concluded, “We have the highest number of workers and businesses in history — and more records to break.”
