Here’s How Malta Will Commemorate Sette Giugno This Year

Festivals Malta, together with the Parliament of Malta and the National Festivities Committee, has announced the national activities marking Sette Giugno 1919.

The first commemoration will take place on Friday, 5 June 2026, at 7.00pm, near the Sette Giugno 1919 Monument in St George’s Square, Valletta. During the ceremony, the Speaker of the House of Representatives will deliver the address for the occasion.

Following the Speaker’s address, wreaths will be laid on the monument by the dignitaries present, representatives of the victims’ families and other organisations. The Police Band will also take part in this event, which will be broadcast live on TVM.

On Sunday, 7 June 2026, at 8.30am, a tribute will be paid to the victims of Sette Giugno 1919 at the Addolorata Cemetery in Paola. Wreaths will be laid on the grave of the victims: Carmelo Abela, Manuel Attard, Ġużè Bajada and Wenzu Dyer.

At 10.00am, the President of Malta will lay a wreath at the Sette Giugno monument in Valletta, accompanied by the Chairperson of the National Festivities Committee and the Mayor of Valletta.
