The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA) has led an initiative which, amongst other measures, included the donation of six electric vehicles to the Community Police, funded through the Eco Contribution paid by visiting tourists and administered in collaboration with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority.

The vehicles will operate across Sliema, Swieqi, Cottonera, Marsaxlokk, Paceville, and Gozo, strengthening police visibility, rapid response, and safety in key tourism zones.

MHRA CEO Andrew Agius Muscat said the initiative reflects MHRA’s commitment to ensuring that tourism-generated funds are reinvested also into projects that protect visitors, support local communities, and reinforce Malta’s reputation as a safe, secure, and welcoming destination. He added that this was made possible through the close collaboration between MHRA, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, the Malta Tourism Authority, and the Malta Police Force, all working together to strengthen safety and security for tourists and the community alike.
