Prime Minister and Labour leader Robert Abela told supporters in Żabbar that he would not lose heart as long as they remained behind him, during a political activity held in the final week of the electoral campaign.

“Sakemm tibqgħu warajja ma naqta’ qalbi qatt,” Abela said, adding that the Maltese and Gozitan people were his strength. He said that in every locality he visits, he feels people’s desire for what is best for the country.

Abela said that despite several challenges, Malta had remained strong. He stated that a Labour government had built “the best economic machine in Europe” and created jobs for families, even during global crises.

He also contrasted Labour’s electoral programme with that of the Nationalist Party, claiming the PN manifesto had no pages on IVF or traditional hobbies such as hunting and trapping.

The Prime Minister highlighted Labour proposals including a €50 weekly increase for pensioners, a €5,000 birth bonus, more parental support, higher stipends, Erasmus support, tax relief for young workers, housing measures, therapy support for children with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions, and a yearly €1,000 “super bonus” for workers.

Abela said Malta’s future would be decided by the vote on 30 May.
