Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Robert Abela said the 100 proposals for Gozo form “the largest chapter” of the electoral manifesto Int Malta.
Speaking during a rally in Xewkija, Gozo, Dr Abela said the proposals were written by young Gozitans who want to take Gozo “to the next level.” He said Gozo has made major progress since 2013 and stressed that, under a Labour government, Gozo would remain a priority.
Dr Abela said the Gozitan economy has reached €1 billion, but added that this was “not enough.” He said the Labour Party wants to reduce double insularity by increasing connectivity between Malta and Gozo by 25%, including through new fast ferry routes and improved vessels.
“For Gozo, we want the best infrastructure,” he said, mentioning an interconnector between Malta and Gozo, 100 roads for Gozo, and new schools equipped with modern technology.
The Prime Minister also mentioned proposals for a Digital Nomad Village, a village for Gozitan artists and creatives, and a full sports village for Gozitan athletes.
He said Labour’s economic results came from “courageous decisions” and pledged “more prosperity” for Gozo.
