Nationalist Party Leader Alex Borg announced a series of economic proposals during a political activity in Mdina, including a key tax measure. He stated, “No tax on the first €10,000 earned from part-time or overtime…this and many more proposals with a clear agenda, a prepared team, and a concrete plan.”

During the interview, Borg criticised the Prime Minister, arguing that the country has been placed in “an atmosphere of a general election” for political reasons. He described it as “a serious failing” for a Prime Minister to play with election timing for partisan interests, adding that it reflects internal challenges within government.

Borg also claimed that several electoral promises were not fulfilled, including projects such as motorsport facilities and a Carnival village. He said bureaucracy has increased despite earlier commitments to simplify processes, particularly in setting up companies.

On social and economic issues, Borg highlighted proposals including a €5,000 “Child Trust Fund” for every newborn, studies on a four-day work week, and the removal of tax on cost-of-living increases. He also addressed housing challenges faced by young people and pledged fairer schemes targeting those most in need.
He concluded by stating that the PN is ready with a clear plan aimed at “a Malta that believes in itself again.”
