The Theology Library at the Archbishop’s Seminary in Tal-Virtù, Rabat, Malta, is hosting a second-hand book sale from Wednesday 15 April to Thursday 30 April 2026. Visitors can explore a wide range of books, including liturgical and devotional texts such as Bibles, missals and prayer books, as well as spiritual reading, theology, scripture studies, Church history, and other subjects like philosophy, ethics, and literature. Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:30am to 12:00pm, while Sundays remain closed.

This initiative reflects a long-standing tradition connected to the Seminary Library, which dates back to October 1756. Its financial foundations and first bequests are attributed to Bishop Paul Alpheran de Bussan. In its early years, the Library was very limited in its resources, but it gradually expanded through donated personal collections from priests, a tradition that continues today. The Library now houses well over 30,000 books and more than 350 periodicals, making it an important centre for theological and academic study in Malta.

Will you be visiting the sale, and what kind of books would you hope to find?
