Prime Minister Robert Abela stated that Malta’s policy of neutrality is helping to secure economic prosperity while providing financial support to citizens, during a political activity in Birżebbuġa.

Addressing supporters, Abela said the government will continue to protect Maltese and Gozitan families through measures such as energy subsidies, tax reductions, and increased benefits. He noted that Malta is facing challenges with “strong finances,” including a surplus and substantial reserves, which he described as a direct result of policies supporting families.

The Prime Minister added that Malta is among the top countries in Europe for employment, with a record rate that “has never been reached before.” He emphasised that this success stems from an economic policy placing “work and people at the centre of decisions.”

Abela also highlighted that Fort Tigné and Manoel Island have been returned to the public, allowing families to enjoy these national assets once again. Referring to Freedom Day, he described it as a “historic decision” that led to both economic and social liberation.

He stressed that neutrality remains a key pillar of Malta’s foreign policy, explaining that it represents “a commitment to dialogue and diplomacy,” rather than passivity. He concluded by calling for national unity to continue building a future of stability and prosperity.
