Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by Clint Camilleri, visited the Sir M. A. Refalo Sixth Form where they were welcomed by head of school Frankline Zammit Galea. During the visit, the Prime Minister met administrative staff and toured several educational facilities, including the biology and chemistry laboratories, the school library, and the facilities used by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ. He also held discussions with a number of students attending the institute.
The Sixth Form continues to strengthen its role as “a dynamic educational centre for students who wish to continue their studies at pre-tertiary level.” The institution currently hosts around 380 students and 68 teachers, offering a wide range of advanced and intermediate level academic courses that prepare students for university, other higher education institutions, or entry into the workforce.
Student life extends beyond classroom learning. The school encourages students to develop their potential through extracurricular programmes, including the annual Youth Performing Arts Fest, celebrating student creativity in music, dance, and other performing arts.
The school is also accredited under the Erasmus+ programme, enabling students and staff to participate in training and educational exchanges in countries such as Italy, Romania, Poland, and Sweden.
These initiatives align with Malta Vision 2050, which places education, innovation, and digital skills at the centre of sustainable national development. Measures such as “AI għal Kulħadd” courses and increased stipends aim to further support students’ educational journey.
