Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg said Malta needs “politicians who will put Malta first and not personal interests” while addressing a mass meeting in Siġġiewi on Sunday under the theme Nifs Ġdid.

During the activity, Borg outlined a series of proposals aimed at supporting Maltese and Gozitan families. These include extending maternity leave to six months on full pay, increasing paternity leave to four weeks with full pay, introducing 15 days of paid leave when children are sick, and ensuring these benefits also apply to self-employed workers. He also pledged to strengthen remote working opportunities to allow families to spend more time together.

Borg also presented several economic and tax proposals, including a 30% reduction in electricity bills, lowering personal taxes with savings of at least €1,200 yearly, removing inheritance tax on denunciation, and eliminating donation tax between parents and children. He also spoke about investment in AI, Data and New Space sectors, a maritime fuel hub expected to generate millions for the economy, and investment in local artists and Malta’s creative economy.

The PN leader argued that these measures would improve quality of life and help families facing the rising cost of living.
