The Labour Party has announced a second package of electoral proposals under the message, “With a strong economy, we will be with you every step of the way.”

Prime Minister and Labour leader Robert Abela said the measures focus on different stages of life, including students, first-time buyers, parents of children with disabilities, pensioners, and travel between Malta and Gozo.

Among the proposals, students would receive another 15% increase in stipends, while those taking part in overseas educational experiences such as Erasmus+ would receive a €1,000 grant.

For first-time buyers, the stamp duty exemption would rise from €200,000 to €300,000, saving up to €12,000. A further refund of up to €1,200 would cover searches and related notarial costs, bringing total possible savings to €13,200.

The party also proposed doubling the carer’s grant for parents of children with severe disabilities to the equivalent of the minimum wage.

Abela also pledged that pensions would rise by €50 per week over five years. The Gozo ferry would become free for foot passengers, while the fast ferry grant for Gozitan workers and students would increase from €650 to €800.
