The Partit Nazzjonalista (PN) stated that the Government “failed to defend the interests of the Maltese and Gozitan people,” following the decision of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) tribunal on the Steward Healthcare concession.
In its statement, the PN said it “welcomes the decision of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) which confirmed that the contract with Steward Healthcare should have been terminated,” adding that this ruling “once again confirms what the Partit Nazzjonalista has been saying from the very start – that the hospitals’ deal was fraudulent.”
The PN noted that the tribunal “recognised that the decisions of the Maltese Courts were just,” confirming the judgment obtained by former PN Leader Adrian Delia, which annulled all the contracts with Vitals and Steward and returned the three hospitals to the Maltese people.
However, the PN said that “despite all this, the Government failed to recover the money that was spent on this fraudulent deal.” It said that while the Government “neither built nor renovated a single one of the three hospitals,” Malta will now have to pay “around €5 million more to Steward Healthcare.”
The statement concluded that “only a new Government led by the Partit Nazzjonalista can ensure full justice is delivered over the Vitals and Steward agreement,” by recovering public funds and holding those responsible accountable.
