The Ministry for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme, together with Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta, held a national conference focusing on how the EU Cohesion Policy has contributed to Malta and Gozo’s economic and social development. The event formed part of an EU co-financed project aimed at raising awareness of the funding opportunities under the Cohesion Policy.
Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi emphasised Malta’s continued commitment to strengthening cohesion as “an essential pillar of the European project,” particularly for small island states facing insularity and geographic limitations. He said the policy represents “a guarantee of solidarity and sustainable development,” enabling Malta to grow on par with other EU member states.
Rodrick Zerafa, CEO of Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta, said the conference reflected “the heart of the European vision – cohesion, progress, and solidarity.” He added, “These funds are not just numbers on paper; they are investments in people’s dreams, in a hopeful future, and in a better quality of life for all.”
The conference also featured messages from Raffaele Fitto, European Commission Vice President for Cohesion and Reforms, and Glenn Micallef, European Commissioner for Intergenerational Equity, Youth, Culture, and Sport, alongside other high-level speakers.
