The Government has reaffirmed its “commitment to quality and sustainable education” through the 2026 Budget, with a 15% increase in student stipends amounting to €6 million in additional support for young people. Education Minister Clifton Grima stated that “students and their families should have every possible support, including financial aid, during one of the most delicate moments of their lives.”
During an informal meeting at MCAST, Ministers Clifton Grima and Clint Camilleri discussed how these Budget measures will benefit students. Camilleri said, “We will begin providing a €280 monthly allowance to over 800 Gozitan students — an increase of around 70% on current assistance.” He also highlighted ongoing €7 million projects modernising schools in Nadur, Rabat, Kerċem, and Żebbuġ.

Parents will continue receiving €500 annually for up to three years for children continuing studies beyond compulsory education. The Government also announced the renewal of the free gym scheme for youths aged 16–21 to promote a healthier lifestyle.
The Budget reflects a “strong and serious commitment” to strengthening education and creating new opportunities for students, educators, and families.
