Infrastructure Malta has begun works in Triq A.M. Valperga, Fgura, with the aim of creating a safer and improved environment for residents. Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Employment Jonathan Attard, accompanied by Infrastructure Malta Chief Executive Officer Steve Ellul and Fgura Mayor Clayton Cascun Portelli, visited the site to inspect the ongoing project.
“This week, we commenced our commitments in this street, where Infrastructure Malta is carrying out its role to ensure not only the provision of the necessary services but also the safety required for the residents of this area,” Minister Attard said.
As part of the project, a new road has been constructed. To ensure it blends with the surrounding rural landscape, the structure overlooking the nearby fields has been finished with an integrated Maltese stone façade, complementing the area’s traditional character and existing rubble walls.
The project also includes the installation of a new water main, the replacement and upgrading of the drainage system, the construction of concrete parking bays, and the reconstruction of existing pavements. Minister Attard explained that, as part of the road had only recently been formed, it was essential to rebuild it with particular attention to quality, safety, and the services required by residents and road users.
Infrastructure Malta Architect Luke Bartolo noted that the road required substantial intervention due to differences in ground levels. Meanwhile, Mayor Clayton Cascun Portelli thanked everyone involved, saying the project will not only provide new infrastructure but also give the area “a completely new look”, bringing lasting benefits to residents.
