The Northern Region held a special event at the DoubleTree by Hilton Malta in Buġibba, bringing together representatives of Local Councils, public entities, distinguished guests and members of the community. The occasion included the Region’s Annual General Meeting, the launch of a new publication and the unveiling of a commemorative stamp dedicated to the heritage and identity of the Northern Region.

The programme began with the official Regional Council meeting, during which administrative and governance matters relating to the Region’s work were discussed. During the opening session, Regional President Clifford Galea Vella reviewed the Region’s achievements over the past year and thanked councillors, employees, partners and stakeholders for their contribution. He also highlighted the cultural and historical significance of both the new publication and the commemorative stamp.

One of the evening’s highlights was a presentation by Dr Natalino Fenech, who explained the historical background of the publication, the research behind it and its importance in preserving and promoting the Region’s heritage.

The event also recognised the collaboration of Malta Libraries, with the Region announcing that around 350 books will be distributed to Local Councils during the year to strengthen educational, literacy and community initiatives. Presentations also covered the Region’s work during 2025, ongoing environmental, cultural and educational projects, financial priorities and continued support for Local Councils.
