A new scheme has been launched to help enterprises identify practical ways of reducing energy and water consumption, lowering operational costs and improving their competitiveness.

The Energy Performance Assessment for Enterprises Scheme was launched by Energy, Environment and Grand Harbour Regeneration Minister Miriam Dalli. It aims to provide businesses with practical support and access to expert knowledge on energy efficiency.

“An analysis of energy use is one of the smartest investments a business can make,” Dalli said, adding that the scheme will help enterprises better understand their consumption, reduce operating costs and become more competitive.

Two forms of support are available. Low-energy-consuming enterprises may receive a free energy-use assessment, including site visits, tailored recommendations and expert guidance. Medium-energy-consuming enterprises can access financial assistance for assessments identifying opportunities to reduce energy and water use.

Energy and Water Agency CEO Sandro Lauri said tailored assessments would help businesses move “from identifying opportunities to implementation”, while improving efficiency and long-term resilience.

The scheme is open to enterprises registered with the Malta Business Registry and self-employed persons holding a valid VAT number. Applications are now open.
