Five MCAST fashion design students showcased their final collections at Malta Fashion Week 2026, taking their work from vocational education to a professional catwalk.
Education and Sport Minister Byron Camilleri met the students before their show and followed their final preparations. The five students — Gillian Grech, Matthias Psaila, Selena Mallia, Mikaela Vella and Maria Pia Falzon — recently completed the Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design.
Camilleri described the experience as evidence of the opportunities offered through vocational education. “At MCAST, we are seeing education that goes beyond the classroom and prepares students for the world of work,” he said, adding that the students were displaying their “talent, creativity and skills” on a professional platform.
Malta Fashion Week founder and executive producer Adrian Mizzi explained that one day of the event is dedicated each year to graduating MCAST fashion students, allowing them to present their collections on a professional catwalk.
Designer Isaac Fenech, who graduated from MCAST two years ago, also highlighted how his education and Malta Fashion Week opportunities helped him develop his skills and pursue a professional fashion career.
