A rescue operation was carried out at Munxar in Marsaskala on Sunday afternoon after three people and a dog found themselves unable to make their way safely back to shore due to rough sea conditions.
According to Civil Protection Malta, rescuers from Fire Station 5 were called to the area after two adults and one young person encountered difficulties while using a kayak. The group, together with their dog, could not continue their return journey as conditions at sea became challenging.
CPD rescue swimmers reached the group and safely assisted all three individuals and the dog onto the Civil Protection Department’s RHIB Delta 2 rescue vessel.
The rescued group was then transported safely back to shore. Officials confirmed that everyone involved was assessed at the scene following the operation.
Fortunately, no medical treatment was required, with Civil Protection Malta confirming that the individuals “did not require any medical assistance.”
The incident highlights the difficulties that can arise at sea when conditions become rough, particularly for people using small vessels such as kayaks.
